Looking up duplicate cards during a game of Memory can be a lot of fun, but nobody likes it in the relation file of his or her ERP system. Nevertheless, it happens all too often that relationships are created twice over time. Especially in larger relation files, it is incredibly difficult or even completely impossible to de-duplicate these values. NetSuite offers a solution in this area. With the 'duplicate detection' functionality, NetSuite helps you actively detect duplicates and merge them.

Settings

First, you set when a relationship is seen as duplicate. Dti is set per relationship type. You can use a large number of relevant fields from the relation card. For example, you can match on (part of) the e-mail address, the website or for example on the zip code and city. Exact e-mail addresses are very useful for clients with many end customers (B2C), while filtering on the e-mail domain is very interesting for the B2B segment.

Automatically remove duplicate records

Deduplication can be done in two ways. From a potential duplicate relation card or through a dedicated menu option. When you open the screen from a relation card, you only see the related relations. If you open the administration screen from the menu, you see all possible duplicates. You can specify which card is leading and which card(s) are duplicates. Through the merge type, you specify the way you want to merge the records. For example, you can merge on the first created record or on just the record with the last activity.

Imports

Duplicate detection can also be used when importing relation data. It is possible to avoid reading duplicate records. So NetSuite can help you clean up data when converting.
